Poste Italiane denies CEO may be a candidate to replace UniCredit’s Mustier

MILAN (Reuters) – Poste Italiane on Monday dismissed media speculation that Chief Executive Matteo Del Fante, a former JPMorgan (NYSE:JPM) banker, could be one of the candidates to take the helm at UniCredit.

“Speculation that Del Fante is among potential candidates for the top job at UniCredit is completely groundless,” the Italian post office said in a note.

Doubts about the future of UniCredit CEO Jean Pierre Mustier are intensifying as the bank kicks off the process to appoint a new board in the spring.
